New features – Lidar and crown width

Now you can measure the crown width of a tree in Arboreal Tree Height for iOS.

Traditionally, it has been difficult to measure the crown width. Either you measured on the ground below the tree or with a measuring tape, an inclinometer, and made your own trigonometric calculations.

In Arboreal Tree Height, it’s easy. You mark the different sides of the crown and we calculate everything automatically.

You can also measure the crown height, you can read more about how to do it here.

Apple has released two phones with Lidar. These phones emit laser beams to measure distance. Arboreal Tree Height can now use these laser beams. This means that you do not have to walk the same distance to the tree. You can mark the tree at a distance of up to five meters with high accuracy.

You can download Arboreal Tree Height from the App Store.
